Doll Bella is a local hair salon in downtown Yuma, AZ owned by Beth Kershaw. Beth views her occupation as a hair stylist as so much more than just doing hair. She claims it is a form of therapy for her and she loves getting to know her clients on an intimate level.
Beth states that she has always had an interest in doing hair, but didn’t pursue it as a career until later in life. She grew up in California and has a background of working in a hospital pharmacy. She went to cosmetology school in Los Angeles, where she received her license. She moved to Yuma in 2002 to be closer to family and started doing hair the day after moving. She opened her own salon on 24th Street in 2007, “My dad was actually the one who encouraged me to pursue hair, which eventually led to me opening my own business,” Beth claims.
“Doing hair is a form of therapy for me,” states Beth. “My clients are like family and I take pride in making them feel good on both the outside and inside. There’s so much more to being a hair stylist, I get to know their family and listen to what’s going on in their life as I do their hair. Doing hair has helped me through several hard times in my life and it gives me a different perspective.”
When asked where the “Doll Bella” name comes from, Beth stated that her dad’s mom was the inspiration for the name. “Her name was Dolly, she sold MaryKay and I always went with her when she got her hair done at the Yuma School of Beauty.”
Beth just opened her new location in downtown Yuma after being on 24th Street for 11 years. “I’m really thankful for my husband who helped bring this salon to life,” Beth claims. She states that she hopes to stay downtown and bring business to her fellow business neighbors. When asked what she loves most about Yuma, she stated that she loves the simplicity that Yuma brings. “I have really loyal clients and they are all mostly referrals which is hard to achieve in a big city,” Beth reports. She currently sells Kenra products in her salon and is working on bringing a new and upcoming line, Amika, to her salon in September.
Beth states that she is passionate about being a good mother to her two children as well as maintaining balance in her work and personal life.
Her hours are by appointment only Monday- Saturday and her salon is located at 224 Main St. #112 Yuma, AZ 85364.
